Great Shortwing

An unforgettable moment as we were happily watching the usually shy Geomalia at close range. Suddenly, a smaller bird entered the scene, also foraging in the moss-covered ground. Goodness, it’s a Great Shortwing—even scarcer than the Geomalia! I saw neither of these species back in 1999.
