White-spotted Boobook

These forests boast a generous selection of nocturnal wildlife, including owls. Our guide, Nurlin, knew their whereabouts and worked expertly to track them down. The Cinnabar Boobook in central Sulawesi features white spots underneath, and there is an ongoing debate as to whether this is a morph, a subspecies, or perhaps even a distinct species in its own right. This made capturing photos of it all the more rewarding.
