Purple-bearded Bee-eater

I vividly recall finding the spectacular Purple-bearded Bee-eater back in 1999. We got a good view, but the bird bolted after just a few seconds. My camera was on my shoulder, but I missed the shot—something that has haunted me ever since. On this trip, after days of searching, we finally hit the jackpot at our very last chance. Leaving Sulawesi without these photos would have been tough to take.
