Sulawesi is a hotspot in the Indonesian archipelago for endemic and spectacular wildlife. The island also retains much of its original forest cover, but there is a high risk that human activity will soon become as devastating here as on islands such as Java, Borneo, and Sumatra. I first visited in 1999, before my passion for photography really took off. Now, I figured it was about time to head back with my camera. As with many areas in Southeast Asia, one shouldn't wait too long if one wishes to experience the nature and its inhabitants here.
