Vanuatu Kingfisher
Todiramphus farquhari
Loru Rainforest Protected Area, Espiritu Santo Island, Vanuatu - October 12 2018
Male of Vanuatu Kingfisher.
The Vanuatu Kingfisher a.k.a. the Chestnut-bellied Kingfisher is a forest bird and kind of a symbol for Loru Rainforest Protected Area one hour or so north of Louganville. They are by no means easy to find, as they often sit hidden inside the canopies high above ground. The best bet is to be on site at first light and listen for their song, and then track them down.
