Desert Sparrow

Desert Sparrow

Passer simplex saharae
Oued Jenna, Aousserd, Western Sahara - March 21 2017
Adult male of Desert Sparrow.
I saw Desert Sparrows in the Moroccan desert in 1989, and have been longing to see them again ever since. To me the members of the Passer genus are special, and I would like to see and photograph all 28 species (10 to go). At Oued Jenna I had multiple chances to improve my old slides of this handsome bird. We saw several hundreds in one flock, and the total was probably well over 500 birds that were present at the site. A very high percentage were fresh juveniles.
