Horned Guan

The endangered Horned Guan, endemic to the volcanic slopes of Guatemala and adjacent Mexico, is by some considered as the most wanted bird species in the world! Not too many years ago, a major tour company recorded 9999 species on all their tours before they got this enigmatic, spectacular creature as #10.000! Indeed, I booked a local, professional guide to make sure not to miss it. But miraculously, I also found them twice on my own treks! Yes, I am a sucker for close-ups.
