Sickle-winged Nightjar
Eleothreptus anomalus
Reserva Natural Yacyreta, Misiones, Paraguay - 29 september 2022
The Sickle-winged Nightjar is a little known nightjar, tiny in size with a relatively large head and large eyes. There are only a handful of known sites where one can find it. This species has leks, where males and females gather at dusk. Males have strange-shaped wings, visible in flight and display. We felt lucky to find them, really at the last minute with help from the good people at Reserva Yacyretá.
