A Vanuatu Imperial Pigeon perched.
This endemic pigeon is threatened by hunting and habitat loss, and can be tricky to find on Santo even if one climb Pic Santo. Our move to visit also Vanua Lava proved to be a wise decision. Together with our local pathfinder Smith Paul we found this handsome bird not far from Sola, and the following dag more by ourselves. Here they seem to be not uncommon also in the lower foothills.
