Cloven-feathered Dove
Drepanoptila holosericea
Farino, South Province, New Caledonia - 7 november 2018
A male Cloven-feathered Dove perched inside a tree. There are many superbly colored doves and pigeons in this corner of the world, but I found the Cloven-feathered Dove to be one of the most delightful. I found them to be common at only one place that I visited. Endemic to New Caledonia, unique to its own genus. Their deep booming song echoed all over Farino!
